Genesis

Genesis is a newcomer to the luxury world, launching in Australia in 2019 with a competitive range of medium to large SUVs and sedans. Genesis models are priced more sharply than rivals from established euros like BMW and Mercedes, so they’re well worth a test drive if shopping for a prestige car.

2014 Hyundai Genesis (Ultimate Pack): owner review
Owner Review | 27 Apr 2021
I purchased my Genesis in early 2017. It was one of several 2014 Company demonstrators and had a low 15k on the clock. I found it really by accident on the net, having driven used C Class Mercs and 5 series Beemers but, on the first drive of the Genesis, having investigated the make more, was most impressed with its quietness, comfort, safety and engine. It was, for me, a much better overall package than the others I have mentioned. It was a blue Ultimate with all the goodies and safety bits and was truly a dream to drive. I happily purchased it and continue to enjoy driving it every day. It has a sunroof, soft close doors and a 17 speaker Lexicon sound system which is brilliant, just to mention a few of its features. Most people don’t know what it is but it still, at nearly 7 years old, turns heads and invokes queries about what is it? Servicing was free up to 75k so that was welcome and the dealership I service it at, always goes the extra distance in delivering a quality job. I’ve changed tyres of course and the car has had a couple of minor dingles sorted, but, overall, it has been absolutely reliable and trouble free. Some purchasers of the Germans sadly can’t boast that! It has now done 115k and feels as good as the day I first purchased it. Reliable, extremely comfortable and very safe,as I’ve said, I always feel at ease behind the wheel! My work involves quite an amount of driving and this car steps up to the mark perfectly. While Genesis is a relatively new player in Australia, prospective luxury car buyers should certainly add it to their list. Simply buying a car for some sort of ‘badge cred’ is really crazy and makes people miss out on owning very good vehicles, often cheaper, with more features and better reliability. WA Police were so impressed with the Genesis that they purchased a number of them for both marked and unmarked duties. The car, when parked, seems to still attract some people trying to determine what it is. Frequently, Aston Martin and Bentley are mentioned. Quite chuffed really!
